Abstract

The study, titled Islamic Ethical Teachings in the Light of Burhan al-Qur’an and Solutions to the Moral Problems of Modern Muslim Society, examines the significance of Islamic moral principles in addressing contemporary ethical and social challenges. Islam provides comprehensive guidance for individual conduct, family relationships, and social interactions through the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. However, modern Muslim societies face various moral problems, including arrogance, envy, mockery, backbiting, violations of human dignity, irresponsible religious opinions, and the harmful consequences of interest (riba), alcohol, and gambling. These issues can weaken social harmony, undermine family relationships, and negatively affect the moral and economic well-being of society. The primary objective of this research is to explore Islamic ethical teachings and analyze their relevance to contemporary Muslim societies. The study particularly focuses on the condemnation of arrogance, envy, and ridicule; the importance of kindness, concealment of others’ faults, and protection of human rights; and the prohibition of issuing religious verdicts without adequate knowledge. It also examines the ethical and social implications of riba, alcohol, and gambling, emphasizing their relationship with individual responsibility and collective welfare. Furthermore, the research highlights the importance of protecting the family system, fulfilling social responsibilities, and preserving Islamic moral values. The study adopts a descriptive, analytical, and inductive research methodology. Primary sources include the Holy Qur’an and Prophetic traditions, while authentic Qur’anic commentaries, books on Islamic ethics, and relevant scholarly literature provide supplementary material. The findings indicate that adherence to Islamic ethical principles can promote mutual respect, justice, tolerance, honesty, social responsibility, and family stability. The research also emphasizes that religious guidance should be based on authentic knowledge and responsible interpretation. The study concludes that addressing the moral crisis in modern Muslim societies requires the practical implementation of Qur’anic and Prophetic teachings in personal, familial, educational, and social life. It recommends strengthening moral education, promoting responsible religious guidance, discouraging harmful social practices, and encouraging the fulfillment of individual and collective rights. These measures can contribute to the development of a morally responsible, peaceful, and socially cohesive Muslim society.
