The present study, titled “Economic Rights of Women: A Comparative Study in the Light of Semitic Religions,” presents a comparative study of the religious teachings of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam concerning the economic status and financial rights of women. The primary objective of the study is to comparatively examine the economic position and rights accorded to women in the three religions. The study reveals that the religious teachings of Judaism and Christianity do not present a comprehensive and clearly defined system of specific economic rights for women, whereas Islam grants women explicit economic rights, including the right to ownership, inheritance, dower (Mahr), maintenance (Nafaqah), and independent control over their property. Islam recognizes women’s right to personal ownership, assigns them a prescribed share in inheritance, and provides clear injunctions for the protection of their financial rights. The article comparatively examines the relevant teachings of the three Semitic religions and highlights their similarities and significant differences regarding the economic rights of women.
