Abstract

The pages of Islamic history and civilization are illuminated by the light of knowledge and research. In every era, such eminent scholars and historians have emerged who have left a valuable legacy for the Muslim Ummah with their scientific insight. One of these distinguished scholars is the name of Allama Ahmad bin Yahya bin Jabir al-Baladhuri, whose scientific and historical services are a bright chapter in Islamic history. His works have had a profound impact not only on his time but also on all subsequent historians.

Allama al-Baladhuri's personality holds an exceptional position in Islamic historiography. He is one of the eminent historians of the Abbasid era who documented the Islamic conquests, the Rightly Guided Caliphate, the political and cultural conditions of the Banu Umayyads and the Banu Abbas with great research and honesty. His works, especially Futuh al-Buldan and Ansab al-Ashraf, are considered the basic sources of Islamic history.

Truth, balance, and impartiality are prominent in Baladuri's writings. He was not just a narrator but also a researcher and critical historian.  His style is clear, researched, and based on historical facts. This is why later great historians such as Ibn Khaldun, al-Tabari, al-Mas'udi, al-Ya'qubi, and other scholars directly benefited from his work.
