Dilshad Kalanchavi was a distinguished Saraiki writer, poet, linguist, researcher, critic, translator, and editor. His contribution to Saraiki literature is particularly significant in the fields of translation and textual editing. He translated a wide range of prose and poetry from Urdu, Arabic, Persian, and English into Saraiki, while also compiling and editing important classical Saraiki texts. His translations demonstrate a conscious effort to preserve the beauty, sweetness, fluency, idiomatic expression, indigenous vocabulary, cultural references, and regional character of the Saraiki language. His translated works include Toba Zari, Qissay Tay Parh Qissa, Anar Kali, Khwaban Wich Khayal, Saraiki Mutalay De Sau Saal, translations of Ghalib's ghazals, and the poetic translation Dilbahar. As an editor, he worked on significant classical texts such as Masnavi Yusuf Zulekha, Noor Nama, Khayaban-e-Khurram, and Meraj Nama. In the process of editing, he consulted available manuscripts, corrected textual errors, added diacritical marks, and presented the texts in a more reliable and accessible form. His efforts played an important role in preserving classical Saraiki literary heritage and making it accessible to students, researchers, and general readers. This study examines Dilshad Kalanchavi's contributions as a translator and editor and highlights his role in the development, preservation, and enrichment of Saraiki language and literature.
