This research presents a comprehensive analytical study of the ethical challenges posed
by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the contemporary era, examined through the lens of
Islamic teachings. The rapid advancement of AI has revolutionized every facet of
human life, yet it has simultaneously generated profound ethical, social, and legal
dilemmas—including the crisis of human identity, algorithmic bias, loss of privacy,
autonomous weapons, and lack of transparency in decision-making processes. Islamic
teachings, which encompass all dimensions of human existence, provide a
comprehensive and balanced intellectual framework to counter these modern
challenges. Grounded in foundational principles of the Qur'an and Sunnah—such as
justice ('adl), trust (amanah), accountability, human dignity (takrim al-insan), and the
prohibition of harm (la darar wa la dirar)—this research evaluates how technological
progress can be regulated within human welfare and ethical boundaries. The study
analyzes key areas including privacy and data protection, algorithmic fairness,
autonomous military systems, economic displacement, and the philosophical
challenges posed by transhumanism. By integrating classical Islamic jurisprudence
(usul al-fiqh) with contemporary ethical discourse, the research proposes a
comprehensive code of conduct for AI development and deployment that safeguards
humanity from harm in light of the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid al-Shari'ah).
The study emphasizes the necessity of collective ijtihad, interdisciplinary collaboration
between technologists and Islamic scholars, and the establishment of ethical oversight
committees to ensure that AI serves human welfare rather than becoming a source of
exploitation or moral decay.
