Abstract

Sustainable agriculture is an important approach for meeting the increasing demand for food while protecting environmental resources and promoting human health. conventional agricultural practices can contribute to soil degradation, water contamination, biodiversity loss, excessive greenhouse-gas emissions, and exposure to pesticides and other agrochemicals. sustainable agriculture seeks to reduce these pressures through efficient resource use, soil conservation, integrated pest management, crop diversification, organic amendments, conservation tillage, responsible irrigation, agroforestry, and climate-smart farming. environmental health is closely connected with agricultural practices because the quality of soil, water, air, ecosystems, and food directly affects human and animal well-being. recent research indicates that practices such as crop rotation, mulching, improved nutrient management, conservation agriculture, and organic-matter management can improve soil structure, nutrient cycling, microbial activity, water retention, and agricultural resilience. ) agriculture can also contribute to climate-change mitigation by improving soil carbon storage, reducing unnecessary agricultural emissions, and increasing resource-use efficiency. at the same time, poorly managed fertilizers and pesticides may contaminate agricultural soils and water systems and create risks for ecosystems and human populations. this research examines the relationship between sustainable agricultural practices and environmental health, with particular attention to soil quality, water resources, biodiversity, agrochemical management, climate resilience, and human health. the study uses a qualitative review-based research approach to synthesize recent scientific literature and identify major environmental benefits, challenges, and opportunities associated with sustainable agriculture. the findings indicate that sustainable agricultural practices can support healthier ecosystems and more resilient food systems when they are appropriately adapted to local environmental and socioeconomic conditions. effective farmer education, technological sssinnovation, supportive policies, environmental monitoring, and responsible resource management are important for strengthening the transition toward sustainable agriculture.
