The rapid development of digital technologies is transforming the fashion industry and creating new possibilities for fashion design, production, presentation, and consumer engagement. Digital fashion design tools, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), 3D modeling, digital garments, virtual fashion shows, and metaverse platforms are increasingly becoming important components of contemporary fashion practice. These technologies allow designers to create, modify, visualize, and present garments in virtual environments without depending entirely on traditional physical production processes. Digital and virtual fashion can also support creativity, experimentation, personalization, sustainability, and global accessibility. At the same time, the transition toward digital fashion raises challenges related to technological skills, intellectual property, authenticity, accessibility, cost, and changes in traditional design practices. This study explores the future of fashion design in digital and virtual environments by examining how emerging technologies influence designers’ creative processes, fashion education, consumer experiences, and industry practices. The study emphasizes the potential of digital fashion to create innovative design opportunities while identifying the skills and challenges that fashion designers may need to address in the future.
