Islamic seminaries have historically played a significant role in preserving Islamic knowledge, promoting religious education, and providing guidance to society. Sheikhupura, one of the prominent districts of Punjab, Pakistan, hosts several well-established Islamic institutions representing different schools of thought. These seminaries have made remarkable contributions to religious education, Qur'anic and Hadith studies, jurisprudence, moral training, preaching, publication, and social welfare.
This study critically examines the religious, educational, and scholarly services of some of the leading Islamic seminaries in Sheikhupura, namely Jamia Nizamia Rizvia, Jamia Farooqia, Jamia Muhammadiya, Madrasa Ihya-e-Islam, and Idara Wilayat Ali bin Abi Talib. The research highlights their educational systems, curricula, teaching methodologies, academic achievements, publication activities, community services, and their role in promoting Islamic values. Alongside acknowledging their contributions, the study also evaluates the challenges faced by these institutions and identifies areas requiring academic improvement and institutional development.
Using qualitative and analytical research methods, this paper aims to present an objective assessment of the selected seminaries while offering constructive recommendations for enhancing their educational standards, research culture, administrative efficiency, and social engagement. The findings demonstrate that despite their doctrinal diversity, these institutions share a common commitment to the dissemination of Islamic teachings and the moral development of society.
