Shaista Fakhri's novel " Nadeeda Baharon ke Nishan " is a bold study of feminine sensuality, male dominance, and physical and psychological exploitation of women in contemporary Urdu fiction. The central focus of the story is the character of "Aliza", who goes through the painful stage of Halala due to her husband's suspicion and mistrust and suffers the shock of the defeat and destruction of her existence, honor, and dreams between two men. The novel exposes the atrocities committed against women under the guise of religious and social values, calling the male mindset to account, while despite the reservations of critics (such as Dr. Shahab Zafar Azmi), Aliza's final decision is considered a declaration of women's freedom, self-realization, and rebellion.
The author has emotionally depicted women's inner helplessness, fear, and broken dreams through expressive style, detailed writing, and symbols. The main message of the novel is that despite social injustices and ironies, a woman is not just an oppressed character, but she also has the courage to live with her wounds and continue her existential struggle without compromising her honor.
