This article examines the fictional works of Rehman Muznib with particular reference to his representation of realism, social consciousness, female psychology, class conflict, feudal structures, and the khanqah system. Special attention is given to Gul Badan and Khushbodar Auratein, in which marginalized women, prostitutes, labouring classes, and socially deprived individuals emerge as central figures. The study argues that Muznib’s realism is not limited to the outward depiction of social life; rather, it also explores the psychological, cultural, and ideological forces that shape human behaviour. His female characters are presented as complete human beings struggling with desire, deprivation, dignity, identity, and social oppression. The article further highlights Muznib’s criticism of class inequality, patriarchal dominance, feudal exploitation, religious manipulation, and social hypocrisy. His simple language, natural dialogue, realistic characterization, effective atmosphere, and psychological insight strengthen the artistic quality of his fiction. Overall, Rehman Muznib’s fictional world reflects a humanistic and socially conscious vision that gives literary significance to marginalized sections of society and contributes meaningfully to the realist tradition of Urdu fiction.
