This article presents a sociological analysis of the individual-society relationship in the Pakistani Urdu short essay (Inshaiya). Analyzing iconic motifs like Pagdandi, pul, and Bargad, the study shows how everyday observations become metaphors for social balance. It argues that the individual is neither detached from society nor a mechanical cog, positioning Inshaiya as an alternative narrative of contemporary Pakistani culture.
